Celebrating Zimbabwean Women

It’s no secret that Women’s Month is an opportunity to celebrate women’s achievements and the important role that women of all races and religions have played and continue to play in South African society. Yes, it is South African. “On 9 August 1956, more than 20 000 women from all walks of life united in a mass demonstration to the Union Buildings in Pretoria. They protested againast the unjust pass laws emforced on women.”

As opportunists and women we can also capitalise on this to also celebrate other women, reflect on womens’ achievements, the challenges they face and the important role they play in the society. It is very important to point out that besides the traditional roles as wives, mothers and caregivers, women have made progress in business, politics, academic and economic careers with more and more women reaching top positions.

In the name of #TechMakingADifference, #WomenSupportingWomen, #MakeItHappen this Women’s Month is about celebrating the Zimbabwean women and sharing empowering information online. As women we have more in common than we have reason to fight with each other. Each week we will have empowering, exciting engagement and inspiring stories from women that have persevered.

These engagements are to ignite women, inspire, give hope, make a difference in their capacity for the benefit of their family and community.
